Let’s Talk Venues – The Club Has Many!

Crane Cottage

With all of the beautiful greenery, twinkling lights and historic charm, it’s no wonder that Crane Cottage is the most popular. This grand, Italian Renaissance-style cottage, adjacent to the main Hotel, has a formal Sunken Garden with fountains and an upper terrace, a fountained Courtyard with an arcaded loggia, a Reflecting Pool Lawn, an elegant Living Room complete with fireplaces and a cozy library. Crane’s garden is the perfect setting with its lush trellises and glittering fountains for wedding ceremonies up to 250 people, followed by the pre-reception gathering filled with cocktails and hors d’oeuvres by the Reflecting Pool Lawn, set in front of the cottage.

Additionally, the magical Crane Courtyard is the perfect spot for any plated or buffet style reception with up to 130 guests, with dancing and entertainment flowing over into the Living Room and Library. Worried your group won’t fit in the Courtyard? With the addition of a tent outside the Courtyard, up to 250 people can be accommodated…so you can invite every distant friend and second-cousin twice removed to share in your special day.

Cherokee might be smaller in size of the two cottages, but the beauty and charm still rates a full 10. With the ability to hold events up to 50 people, Cherokee is the perfect setting if a more intimate vibe is what you seek. Many brides choose to have their ceremony on the Cherokee Lawn underneath the shade from a breathtaking live oak tree, followed by the pleasures of dinner, reception and dancing in the Main Hall and on the true southern Veranda.

Riverfront Lawn

With some of the best sunset and river views, along with a beautiful canopy of ancient oaks providing a sensational open-air setting, the Riverfront Lawn is a storybook location to fill all of your wildest dreams. Whether it’s an afternoon ceremony underneath the warming sunshine or a large reception underneath the stars with illuminating bare bulb lights strung throughout the trees, the Riverfront Lawn can be transformed into the perfect spot for your ceremony and reception for up to 300 guests. But no need to worry over inclement weather spoiling your big day as we always have a back-up location booked for all outside events.

Beach Pavilion

Here at the Jekyll Island Club Hotel, not only can you have riverside ceremonies, but you can also say I-do with sand between your toes and a sea breeze in your veil! The Hotel’s Beach Pavilion, located along Jekyll Island’s pristine beaches, is a spacious open-air structure accommodating up to 70 guests–the perfect seaside setting for outdoor wedding events or rehearsal dinners. What could be better than a sunny summer beach wedding?

Morgan Center

Once upon a time, the Morgan Center was the private indoor tennis court for the millionaires. But don’t worry, this beautiful building has been impeccably restored into the hotel’s newest and largest event venue. The Morgan Center can accommodate events of up to 300 people and features an outdoor terrace, deluxe lawn, a mezzanine and a large main floor complete with skylights and romantically draped lights–perfect for a memorable outdoor ceremony with a seated indoor reception, or vice versa. The Morgan Center Lawn is perfect for a blissful outdoor ceremony as the trellis and surrounding greenery creates an intimate feel, or inside the main hall is a grand staircase that will be aglow with lights for a dramatic entrance as the bride can walk down the stairs to the aisle. The Morgan Center can house your entire wedding event from the ceremony to the reception, and large weddings selecting the Riverfront Lawn for their ceremony can choose to move indoors to the Morgan Center for their reception.

Club Ballroom

Boasting historic charisma and elegance, the Jekyll Island Club Hotel Ballroom is a simple answer to your dilemma of wanting to have your ceremony and reception in two separate locations, but what makes it’s even better is that is it conveniently connected to the Clubhouse and just a few steps away from ceremony locations. Being able to accommodate up to 100 people for a reception filled with food, libations and dancing, guests will be able to mingle inside and out as the four sets of double doors open onto the Veranda, overlooking the moonlight sky and the Annex Courtyard.

Hall of Mirrors

Smaller, more intimate weddings are sensational in any of the private banquet rooms that flank the Hotel’s historic Hall of Mirrors: The Pulitzer, Federal Reserve and Aldrich rooms. All have 12-foot ceilings, natural light and a charming fireplace, and can accommodate up to 15-30 guests each. What makes the Hall of Mirrors so special, besides all of the rich historic background, is that they can easily be combined for larger groups up to 70.

Faith Chapel

Centrally located in the historic district next to Cherokee and Crane Cottage, Faith Chapel is the second interdenominational chapel built by the Jekyll Island Club for the 1904 season. With decorative elements derived from the Gothic style, and a beautiful signed stained glass window of Louis Comfort Tiffany. Faith Chapel is a great ceremony venue setting for up to 100 guests. The chapel is managed by the Historic Museum and makes the perfect background for an intimate chapel ceremony.

Details, Details, and More Details

After you have selected the venues and chosen between customized or a specific package, now it’s time to begin the real fun stuff….planning!

Once you have dotted your i’s and crossed your t’s on the contract, your Catering Manager will reach out to you to begin the process of forming all of your wedding’s details. Yes, you have a personal Sales AND Catering Manager (that’s TWO top-notch professionals) ready to dive in and assist you while planning your wedding here at the Jekyll Island Club.

Your Catering Manager will first set up what they call a Planning Session with you, your Husband-To-Be and possibly even your Mom, to help calm your nerves of course. At the Planning Session, you will enjoy pre-selected food and cake items, chosen by you, to taste and pick for your rehearsal dinner, pre-reception, reception, etc. As you sample delicious entrees and desserts, you will also be discussing options and deciding on all of the details of your wedding. Be prepared though, you will be asked a ton of questions during this session! Your Catering Manager will walk you through the process and ask you all about your set-up vision (chairs, linens, centerpieces, decorations), food and beverage needs, entertainment (DJ, band, karaoke, photo booths, etc), special requests and furnishings (barebulb lighting, farm tables, sound systems, etc) and so much more!

Our best advice to you before attending your Planning Session is to come as prepared as you can! It’ll help lift a weight off your shoulders to get all of your ideas and selections on the table and in writing, and then tweak, add, and take off items as you go along. We want to make your wedding planning experience as seamless and pain-free as possible!

Once you have finished your Planning Session, it’s generally smooth-sailing from there on out. Your Catering Manager will then be in touch with you periodically as payments are due, details marked as TBD need to be decided and small questions arise. Your Sales Manager will be there to assist with any room-block questions, special rooming requests or vendor related questions. If you have any sudden requests, changes or questions, they are always just a quick email or phone call away!

It’s Your Wedding Weekend!

After all of the sleepless nights, detailed planning and prayers for perfect weather, your wedding weekend has almost arrived and it’s time to head to Jekyll Island! Once you arrive, you will have what we call a “Pre-Con” Meeting with your Wedding Director, Catering and Banquet Managers. At this meeting, you will hand over any decorations or special items you have brought with you for our staff to place, and then your Catering Manager will efficiently run through all of your events notes, set-up, menus, etc to make sure everyone is on the same page and that we are all set to have your wedding go off without a hitch.

On the day-of your ceremony, your Wedding Director will check-in with you at the pre-determined time and do a quick rundown of your day’s timeline. She will also be there for any last minute questions, blunders or small panic attacks that may arise…we understand nerves are tightly strung, it is your wedding day! But just remember to breathe and enjoy the walk down the aisle.

After the ceremony, your Wedding Director will make sure you get through your pictures and into your reception as you get announced as “Mr. and Mrs”! After the reception formalities, your Wedding Director will then bow out as the skilled Banquet Manager takes over to ensure the rest of your evening is perfect. Of course, you may always add extra hours with your Wedding Director if you can’t bear to have them leave before your event is over, but our Banquet staff is trained immaculately and will be there to assist as needed.
