Dining Overview

The tradition of culinary excitement at the Jekyll Island Club Hotel is as celebrated today as it was at the turn of the century when the establishment was an exclusive hunting club for J.P. Morgan, William Rockefeller, their families and friends. A club member described in her journal every one of her dining experiences at the Club...from 1899 to 1909! Today's guests, too, praise the Club's culinary delights in two distinctive restaurants and the popular bakery-delicatessen.

The elegant Grand Dining Room continues to be the scene of social gatherings and gourmet experiences. Beautifully restored in the Victorian mode, the room is dominated by Ionic columns and expansive views of the Jekyll River. By night, the glow of candlelight and piano music create an atmosphere of romance and anticipation of the gourmet meal to come.

The Courtyard at Crane Cottage, an alfresco restaurant, is the enchanting setting for a casual, sophisticated dining experience. Located in the center courtyard and loggia of the historic Crane Cottage, the setting suggests an Italian Renaissance villa. Guests enjoy a menu reminiscent of the northern California wine country.

Our chefs also plan the offerings for Cafe Solterra, the hotel's bakery-delicatessen. The Café offers seating inside, on the veranda, or in the fountain courtyard. Extended hours allow for a quick continental breakfast in the morning, and lunch and dinner throughout the day.

In season, you may want to check out the Pool Bar and Grill for lunch and dinner, or the Beach Pavilion, beachside, for snacks.

Whether you choose formal or casual dining, the food and service at the Jekyll Island Club Hotel are outstanding, sure to merit a page or two in your own journal.
