Aspinwall Room

Architect Charles Alexander had not intended this to be a room but rather a lovely, round extension of the veranda where ladies and gentlemen arriving for the season might pause to greet friends and catch their breath. It was originally without windows and the lower portion of the round wall was of a loose lattice weave. Later, members decided to have it enclosed for protection from occasional inclement weather. The room is named for General Lloyd Aspinwall, the first president of the Jekyll Island Club.
