Noteworthy Duo - Flute and Guitar Concert
February 14, 7:30 p.m.
Guitarist Michael Nigro and his musical associate and flutist, Lisa Schroeder, perform a concert of romantic music that is played in a refreshing contemporary style with classical beauty.
"Our vision is to reach a non-classical audience, inspire the classical listener, and to touch just one life with a 'noteworthy' performance," says Michael Nigro. Their interest in South American Music can be heard throughout their extensive flute and guitar repertoire. A graduate of the University of Indiana School of Music and California State University, Nigro has performed at universities, prestigious guitar societies, and concert venues across the county. His CD's, including "Homage to Piazzolla," have received enthusiastic reviews in several music publications. A reviewer of his recent concert in Las Cruces, New Mexico, said, "I had the feeling that each composer would have stood and shouted, 'Bravo! That is how I wrote it to be played.' The guitar sang, floated, stamped its feet, wailed and laughed under his fingers. Outstanding concert!"
As a solo artist with Altus Flutes, Lisa Schroeder has established herself as an artist and teacher, performing in concerts and giving master classes across the United States and Europe. In California, she is the acting principal flutist of the Golden State Pops Orchestra.
