Jekyll Island Buggy Expo
May 7-9, 2009

The JIBE is Jekyll Island's first, and the Southeastern US's only annual kite buggy rally. It is planned as a loosely organized, informal get-together for kite-buggy pilots, but ATB/ landboarders and all traction and power kite fliers are welcome. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Georgia Sea Turtle Center on Jekyll Island

Begin with a Golf clinic Q & A at 11:30 am before your afternoon golf. At 12:30 pm play FREE! This “scramble” is limited to 72 players and registration must be online at www.playgolfamerica.com. Play with your own team. Winning teams will be determined after play, and prizes are awarded accordingly.

Jekyll Island Golf Course- Link up 2 Golf
May 11 - 14, 2009

Jekyll Island Golf Club's Link Up 2 Golf program is targeted towards new golfers or individuals who have participated and finished the “First Swing” program or other beginner golf programs. Link Up 2 Golf is also suitable for individuals who have left the game and now desire to play again, as well as individuals who would be classified as "occasional golfers" (having played less than seven times in a year).

Link Up 2 Golf's purpose is to offer an orientation, series of group lessons, and structured playing opportunities in a casual setting to address barriers keeping people from the game. This format is intended to be a fun way to learn the game, providing easy and affordable access while connecting participants with golfers of equal ability. On the last day following the 2 hour lesson, there will be a 9-hole "Graduation Scramble". The package Includes three rounds of golf with an electric cart. Cost: $135.00

Jekyll Island Turtle Crawl Triathlon
May 15-16, 2009

This exciting weekend of events features a USAT-sanctioned Triathlon and a 5km Fun Run & Walk. The Triathlon comprises a 1.5K swim, 40K bike, and a 10K run. Proceeds from the events benefit the Georgia Sea Turtle Center, www.georgiaseaturtlecenter.com.

This race takes place on historic Jekyll Island where the course is considered to be one of the fastest in Georgia. Transition prior to the race is 6:00 - 7:15 am; the race begins at 7:30 am

Course description for the Triathlon:
Swim (1 hour): Time trial start for this leg of the event with your start based on previously submitted time. Point to point course is designed with buoys on the left during the swim.
Bike (1-1/2 hours or total of 3-1/2 hours of swim and bike) : The bike is two-looped course around Jekyll Island. The course is fast and flat and ready for a personal record. A water bottle exchange is available at approximately twelve miles.
Run (Race must be completed in 4-1/2 hours): Out and back with a view of the Atlantic Ocean the entire run. The course is fast and flat with aide stations every mile on the course.
