Georgia's Colonial Coast Birding and Nature Festival

Mark your calendars. The 7th Annual Georgia's Colonial Coast Birding & Nature Festival will take place October 8th-12th at Jekyll Island and along the entire Georgia coast. Come for the weekend, for just a day, or a few hours. Activities will appeal to a wide spectrum of the public from the casual nature enthusiast to the serious birdwatcher.

Seminars, interactive programs, field trips, and boat trips to barrier islands with outstanding natural habitats will be guided by expert naturalists and biologists. Donald Kroodsma, the author of "The Singing Life of Birds," will be the keynote speaker Saturday night.

In addition to the field trips and other events, the Festival plans an extraordinary exhibit called "The Rookery" at the Jekyll Island Convention Center. Exhibits by conservation-based organizations and vendors, a live raptor show, activities for children and much more are planned. Georgia-Florida Golf Classic on Jekyll Island - October 28-30

The Georgia football season is just about to be underway, and nothing is more exciting than the Georgia-Florida rivalry when the Bulldog nation invades coastal Georgia!

The Georgia-Florida Golf Classic on Jekyll Island is THE tournament opportunity for fans to play golf against rival fans in this 30 year tradition.

A Get-Acquainted Cocktail Party for players and their guests starts the Tournament off right.delicious food, a cold beverage, and an opportunity to size up the competition. The Wednesday evening event begins at 7:30 p.m. and takes place at the Hartley Auditorium in the Jekyll Island Convention Center.

The golf start time is 6:00 a.m. for each of the two days of competitive golf on Jekyll Island's beautiful Oleander and Indian Mound courses with additional team starts throughout the day. Other competitions include putting contests and a Ladies' Doubles Tennis Tournament.

A whirl of social events includes a Wine and Cheese Tasting Party, Buffet Dinner and Oyster Roast with entertainment by the Swingin' Medallions, the Annual Ladies Luncheon, and more.
