Home and Family Shoppers' Festival - September 12
10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.

The Jekyll Island Club Hotel brings shopping to a new scene with its first "Home and Family Shoppers' Festival" September 12th. A number of chic, home-based businesses will showcase their products in the rooms of the Hall of Mirrors from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Convenient shopping in a National Historic Landmark setting is the latest in boutique experiences.

"For this first festival, we've invited a collection of local businesses we think have beautiful, exiciting products to offer. It's also an opportunity for us to support our local economy," says the event coordinator. "For example, The Pampered Chef has tools and gadgets for the kitchen, and Tastefully Simple has interesting gourmet food items. Shoppers will also see Mary Kay cosmetic products and Stamp-N-Up scapbooking and card making products as well as CAbi Fashions which features women's clothing."

Shoppers will have plenty of time to stroll through the Hall of Mirrors, select purchases, and meet friends for lunch. The Grand Dining Room, Courtyard at Crane, and Café Solterra restaurants are open to welcome shoppers for lunch. Afternoon Tea is served in the Grand Dining Room at 4:00 p.m. Reservations are encouraged but not required.

Hotel shops, also open that day, are the Signature Gift Shop, Club Collections, Love Knotts Florist and Riverview Gallery of photography.

Chef's Demonstration - September 16
1:30 p.m.

The new season of Chef's Demonstrations opens mid-September with Chef Lewie Mashburn in the spotlight.

"Everyone's excited about the Shrimp and Grits Festival coming up soon on Jekyll Island, and I'm one of them," says Chef Lewie. "So, for this demonstration, I'll be preparing two of my favorite shrimp recipes, 'Georgia White Coconut Shrimp with Lemon Peach Marmalade and of course, my very own recipe for 'Shrimp and Grits.' Although we don't talk about our grits as much as we talk about our Georgia shrimp, I'll be singing the praises of stone ground grits at this demonstration."

Chef Lewie advises guests to come with an appetite. Following the preparation of each course, he serves a very generous tasting. Confident that his shrimp dishes will be enjoyed, he also provides printed recipes for guests who want to prepare them at home.

Early reservations for this very popular event are encouraged.
