Destination Weddings in the Coastal South

As a growing number of couples return to traditional ceremonies reflecting family values, they are making choices for settings that express individuality. Since their celebration is also a time of reuniting families and friends, the setting becomes even more important.

The Jekyll Island Club Hotel offers an exquisite range of indoor and outdoor wedding venues. The Club Ballroom, which accommodates up to 250 people for a reception and 120 for sit-down meals, opens through four sets of double doors onto a veranda. Frequently, a bride situates the hors d’ oeuvres and cocktail bar on the veranda, and guests enjoy the opportunity to circulate inside and outside.

The Hotel’s collection of historic accommodations include Crane Cottage and Cherokee, adding a total of 23 additional rooms and suites. The Italian Renaissance style cottages also have 2,000 square feet of beautiful event space. Cherokee, the smaller of the two, has 10 charming rooms and suites, and its great room is delightful for smaller gatherings of up to 50 people. Crane Cottage has a landscaped formal sunken garden with original fountains and upper terrace; this outdoor space is perfect for wedding ceremonies up to 250 people. Take a virtual tour of Crane Garden. Additionally, Crane has a fountain courtyard with arcaded loggia and seating for up to 130 people. Faith Chapel, with its Tiffany stained glass window, is across the lane from Crane Cottage.

For a more intimate setting, the hotel has four event rooms, each of which accommodates thirty people or some may be used together, to accommodate larger groups. The Pulitzer, Federal Reserve, Aldrich and Alexander rooms all have twelve-foot ceilings; some have large bay windows and others, floor-to-ceiling windows that look west over the Marshes of Glynn. The fireplace in each room is accented with an ornate white mantel piece which matches the wainscoting.

The Pulitzer Room, the choice of many brides for a small formal dinner or luncheon, is dominated by a large fireplace with original mirror above the mantel. The rich deep wedgewood blue of this lovely room contrasts with white woodwork and fireplace. This room opens in the Aspinwall Room, a circular sunroom which then accesses the Riverfront Veranda.

The most exquisite piece of leaded art glass in the hotel is the focal point of the Federal Reserve Room. Its extraordinary colors, vivid in the afternoon sunlight – yellows, golds, and ambers – change to shades of light green and blue as the day wanes. Its hues dictate the colors of the room, light lemon with pastel accents. Opening through double wooden pocket doors is the Aldrich Room, a complement to the Federal Reserve Room, sharing its color scheme and overall plan. It has a bay window looking onto the club courtyard.

Decorated in a rich Victorian shade of terra cotta, the Alexander Room’s most attractive feature is a bay window with an exquisitely colored, leaded art glass skylight with design elements similar to those seen in the works of Louis Comfort Tiffany.

The DuBignon Room easily accommodates 70 people for dinner or 100 for a reception. Located in the main section of the hotel, it opens onto the fountain courtyard and has a distinctive charm all its own.

Jekyll’s beach is magnificent any season. The hotel’s Beach Pavilion, a spacious open-air structure, accommodates 60 people for dinner and 150 for a seaside reception and of course if you want your feet in the sand, a traditional beach ceremony. The beauty of the sea and the sound of the surf provide an exceptional setting for non-traditional, alfresco wedding events or rehearsal dinners.

The Executive Chef is rapidly achieving a reputation for serving the finest and most beautifully presented cuisine in this part of the country. The hotel’s pastry chef has numerous styles of wedding cakes and groom’s cakes, which he prepares with masterful creativity. The catering staff, dedicated to a standard of excellence in every aspect of wedding event service, considers that no detail is too trivial, and no effort too great, in ensuring the satisfaction of our guests. They are prepared to make certain your coastal Georgia wedding is perfection.

The Morgan Center is the hotel’s newest and largest venue for weddings-up to 300 guests! The Morgan Center boasts a mezzanine, outdoor terrace and lawn-ideal for your ceremony and a 4900 sq. ft. main floor for receptions and seated dinners.
