Jekyll Island Club Resort is a historic resort on Jekyll Island, in Georgia’s Golden Isles, built around the private winter club that opened in January 1888. It runs as three experiences under one name: the riverfront Jekyll Island Club, made up of the 1888 Clubhouse and its 1901 Annex; three restored Gilded Age cottages, Sans Souci, Crane and Cherokee; and Jekyll Ocean Club, the island’s only oceanfront all-suite resort, which holds the AAA Four Diamond Award. USA Today ranked the resort second among destination resorts in the United States in 2024.
Part of it is. Jekyll Ocean Club sits directly on the ocean on a 10-mile stretch of beach, with a beachfront pool deck and direct beach access from the building. The historic Island Club and the three cottages are on the riverfront side of the island rather than the oceanfront, and guests reach the beach on the complimentary resort shuttle, which runs every 30 minutes from 8:00 am to 10:00 pm, or by bike or car. Guests staying at either property can use the amenities at both.
On a limited basis. Four pet-friendly rooms are set aside in Sans Souci Cottage, and pets are allowed in first-floor rooms at Jekyll Ocean Club. The policy is one pet per room, no more than 30 pounds, with a $150 non-refundable pet fee. Pet-friendly rooms have to be booked by phone and cannot be reserved online, so call the Jekyll Island Club on 912.319.4349 or the Jekyll Ocean Club on 912.319.4348 to check availability before you book anything else.
On property there is a croquet lawn with equipment provided, two resort pools that are heated and open year round, Spa Cabana for coastal-inspired treatments, a fitness center with a Peloton bike and free weights, and bike rentals at Jekyll Wheels for the island’s paved trails. Nightly s’mores at the fire pits and champagne sabering on Friday and Saturday evenings come with the resort fee. On the island are 10 miles of beach, golf, the Georgia Sea Turtle Center in the Club’s renovated power plant, and a tram tour of the historic landmark district.
The daily resort fee is $45 plus tax. It covers seasonal beach chairs and umbrellas, in-room WiFi and coffee, bottled water, an in-room safe, fitness room access including Peloton bikes, seasonal pool towel service, self-parking, the shuttle between the two properties, nightly s’mores at the fire pit and champagne sabering on Friday and Saturday evenings. Jekyll Island charges a $10 state park toll to enter, which can be higher on holidays. Self-parking is free at both hotels and valet is $20 and up. Check-in
